Chestnuts

Caught a moment with the young oxen out for a training.

Temple view from Main street.

So many new plants to learn about.  I don't know what these are but they just came out and are beautiful.

Chestnuts growing on this tree.  At this time of the year their prickly pods burst open and the nuts fall out to the ground.

We gathered some and roasted them.  Roasting helps the shell peel off.  A little work but they are yummy to eat.

It's beginning to look like Halloween around Nauvoo.

  1. How fun! I never imagined Nauvoo to be a place that decorates for Halloween.

  2. Love the purple berry plant! So cool to learn about new plants and love the views and photos of both of you.

Dreaming of spring days coming...

It is the slow season.  Feb. 26, the wind blew, so working on the wagon was brisk.  I am bundled up with two coats, hat, scarf and more. ...
