A great week with Lonnie's family

First time to work with the Oxen ride.

Then Lonnie's family comes and we go for a ride.

On Wednesday our prep day we attend the temple.  Here are Logan, Ethan, Emily and Tyler at sunset time.  Families are forever.
Sister Quirl got a shot of us at the Sunset performance.

Our visit to the Blacksmith shop.  So interesting how they made the wagon wheels.

Elder Wadley gave us a great demonstration of making a horseshoe.
Here is one of the newest oxen, at 2 weeks old.  Everyone loves the babies.
This would be the size of a wagon to carry your things across the plains to the west.  3 feet by 11 feet.  Oxen were the preferred mode of transporting.
Grandpa did the narration for our Carriage ride out in the country.
Elder Draney did the driving.  It was Prep day, thus Mark is in regular clothes.
The kids stopped by the Post Office and Merryweather's Dry Goods store.  Tyler ready to carry the water.
Pioneer Pastimes is always fun for both young and old.  The guys racing the bears to the top.

A view of the temple by the Browning Gunsmith complex.
A view of the temple from the Cultural Hall.
                                                        Heber C. Kimball's home.
                                                                      Brickyard

4th of July celebration.  Here is the Nauvoo Brass Band.  We love these kids.
                            Stick pulling.
Stacy's paintings.

This is one of the loveliest homes here in Nauvoo.  It is still a private residence.  But it once was Angel's ancestor's home, belonging to Shadrack Roundy.  Of course it has been added on to over the years.
As if the YPM's don't have enough to do.  Here they are warming up to perform doing doubles pushups.
And then they tried a triple pushup, but it didn't last long.  A bit much.
This is the Homestead.  Where Joseph and Emma first lived here in Nauvoo.  They were doing some kind of cooking here today.

On Saturday, we were invited to a small production put on by the Pageant cast, called, "Go Ye Into All The World."  It was fantastic.  I felt as if these were the actual apostles speaking about missions and taking the gospel light to all.  Some of the apostles are Brigham Young, Parley P. Pratt, John Taylor, Heber C. Kimball and Wilford Woodruff.

Dreaming of spring days coming...

It is the slow season.  Feb. 26, the wind blew, so working on the wagon was brisk.  I am bundled up with two coats, hat, scarf and more. ...
